Infant Massage

(with optional instruction)

What is it?

Infant massage is based on nurturing touch - the approach that babies need contact that is mindful, caring, gentle, and nourishing. It is a full body massage for the Little One in your life in a safe, calm, and nurturing environment. Baby is soothed and massaged from head to toe, bringing many benefits along the way!

What to Expect...

In an Infant Massage treatment, Baby is placed either on soft padded mats or on the massage table with buffers in case of rolling. We discuss your concerns and interests in Infant Massage before getting started to ensure safety and effectiveness. Using an oil or lotion of your choice, we always ask permission to massage, and follow Baby’s cues. The front of the body is massaged first, then the back, including hands and feet.

Adults and siblings present for the treatment have the option to learn how to do these techniques safely and effectively at home, or just having the service for Baby and taking a little break!

Handouts and visuals provided for continued learning support. And I am always here for you if you have questions after your session.

The first and most powerful benefit of learning and practising Infant Massage is the caring connection you establish and grow with Baby. It is a wonderful bonding activity for Baby and the adults in their life, which is perhaps one of the most important aspects of a Little One’s development to cultivate!

Infant Massage also helps with digestion, sleep, relaxation, sensory and muscle development, supporting the immune system, and overall fostering healthy growth.

Who can benefit the most from Infant Massage?

Infant massage is typically best started at ages 4 months and younger because this is when they are less mobile. This is also a great time to start with Infant Massage to give a boost to their development from the very beginnings of life.

However this treatment is still quite effective, helpful, and useful for older babies, with adaptations applied for those who are more mobile and active. These techniques especially help with concerns with Torticollis (a neck spasm), constipation, and to support ideal neural development for Baby.

Anyone looking to provide the best supports for Baby’s development, and to strengthen their loving bonds with Baby would benefit greatly from this service.
